Nelson Field

The Nelson Field is a 150 acre rice farm with one 3-person blind located right in the middle of the property. The checks run north/west to south/east and the ducks work in from the north west during a south wind and stormy conditions. The property is just north of one the Lundberg Family Farms organic rice fields, which draws a large number of ducks in the area due to the lack of hunting pressure and the abundance of cover combined with the rice grain remaining in the filed after harvest. The straw will be incorporated in to the ground after harvest, which also adds to the attraction of ducks for feeding and resting. Water is provided by the Western Canal Water District and we provide a constant flow throughout the season.

UPDATE:

3- man blind available for the 2008 - 2009 Season:  Sold Out

October 19, 2005

The rice harvest and ground prep has been completed and we should have water going here within the next day or two.

We have seen a lot of ducks working the fields to the north and they should move in here once they find the fresh water.

Here you are looking north-east from the blind, lower left.
